How most visitors enter Egypt — e-visa, visa on arrival, passport validity, and what EG Traveo does (and does not) file for you.
Egypt welcomes travellers year-round. Entry rules depend on your passport, so always check the official portal and your airline before you fly. EG Traveo does not file visas for you; we send a reminder with your confirmation and the links that were current when we wrote.
Passport
- Keep six months of validity beyond your intended stay.
- Leave two blank pages for stamps.
- Names on tickets, hotel lists and the visa application must match the passport exactly.
E-visa
The usual route for many nationalities is the official e-visa (visa2egypt). Apply with details that match your ticket, upload a clear passport scan if asked, pay the fee, and keep the approval on your phone and on paper. Processing is often a few days; do not leave it until the airport queue.
Visa on arrival
Some nationalities can still obtain a visa at Cairo International, including via QR / kiosk systems that have been rolling out. Cash and card rules change. If your nationality is on the list, this can be simpler than applying from home — confirm before you travel, not at the counter.
